This site was identified in the drain face 40m south along the same drain as 02E0973 (No. 1274, Excavations 2002). It was 0.35m below the field surface and was composed of roundwood and split timbers extending north-eastward under the field surface. It was not visible in the opposing drain face. A single cutting, measuring 2.5m by 4m, was placed at a 45º angle to the north–south-oriented drain face.
The site was composed of fourteen parallel roundwoods and two brushwoods. The elements were oriented north-east/south-west and were closely placed. The roundwoods ranged from 9mm to 40mm in diameter, and the two brushwoods from 35mm to 50mm. They were generally in very poor condition, and their western extent had been truncated by the Bord na Móna drain. The maximum width of the site (east–west) was 2.73m, and it was 3.4m long. Ten toolmarked ends were excavated. These were all multi-faceted, and most were wedge-shaped points. Underneath these upper roundwoods were two supporting split roundwoods. These were 0.11m and 0.17m in diameter and 0.97m and 2.13m long. They were oriented north–south and were placed 1.4m apart. Two test-trenches were excavated to investigate whether the site continued in a north–south direction, but neither trench contained evidence of archaeological wood.
Although its construction was togher-like in appearance, this site seems to have been a small roundwood platform measuring c. 3m by 4m. It was composed of mainly parallel roundwoods, with two brushwood elements, closely laid and supported by two split roundwoods.
