Topsoil-stripping on the Bord Gáis Éireann Pipeline to the West uncovered a site with several irregular charcoal-rich pits and features in Tullerboy townland, Co. Limerick. The site measured 11.6m north–south by 7.8m. Seven large pits and numerous smaller pits were identified. Most were shallow, possible natural depressions with varying, non-descript fills, all containing various amounts of charcoal flecking, and some of the site was covered by a thin spread of burnt material. A sub-oval pit measuring 1.8m north–south by 1.3m contained a series of concentric stake-holes along the base and occasionally in the centre. This was seen as a possible roasting pit, with stakes supporting a rack.
This site was interpreted as associated with, or a remnant of, a fulacht fiadh.
