This site was examined as part of Bord Gáis Éireann’s Pipeline to the West. A single, subcircular scoop was excavated, measuring 0.86m (north– south) by 0.65m. The sides of the feature sloped gently down to an uneven base, 0.05m deep. The fill was a fine, dark grey/black silt, containing charcoal and small quantities of iron slag. Analysis of the slag may provide a date for the metalworking.
