This site was examined as part of Bord Gáis Éireann’s Pipeline to the West. A small and discontinuous spread of charcoal-rich soil was noted during monitoring of topsoil-stripping. Subsequent excavation revealed a small area of burning, measuring c. 1.5m by 0.8m by 0.05m deep, lying on the naturally occurring clay. This burnt deposit contained modern plastic and was consequently not considered to be of archaeological merit.
