Test-trenching was carried out before the construction of a proposed dwelling-house. The site is within the zone of potential of a megalithic structure. This identification appears to have originated in an antiquarian reference, which is now classed as ‘doubtful’ in the files held by the Archaeological Survey of Ireland. Six trenches were opened by machine at this site, which was a level, grassy field. Each trench was 20m long and 1.5m wide. All were excavated down to the natural, a silty clay with occasional stones. No archaeological material was encountered.
