This site was originally tested in 2000 before two new developments, immediately adjacent to the medieval priory (Excavations 2000, No. 597). During 2002 part of the site, which was originally under a terrace of several two-storey cottages, was tested. This demolition was monitored, and several medieval architectural fragments relating to the abbey were recovered. One trench was dug by machine on the site of the terrace, parallel to Barrack Street. It was found that the terrace had been cellared, and therefore any archaeological deposits that may have been present had been removed when the cellars were dug. Nothing of archaeological significance was found in the footprint of the terrace.
