During paving works for Limerick Corporation a well was uncovered under the front wall of 9 Church Street. The well was of drystone construction, with a diameter of c. 0.9m and a depth 3m from the upper ring of stones to the water. This upper ring was c. 0.8m below present ground level. There appeared to have been some reduction in level around the well before it was capped, because all deposits over it seemed to be disturbed. The well did not appear on any maps and is believed to be older than 1840. The only finds were some fragments of red brick in the capping material, and these were not retained.
