Planning conditions required that all ground disturbance during the development of a housing estate at Glenfield, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, be monitored, as the easternmost section of the development site is within the zone of archaeological potential of the town. The site comprises an area of 2.3ha. Phase I of the development, which is now complete, was monitored over twelve weeks from April 2002. Phase II began in November 2002 and is continuing. No finds or features of archaeological significance have been uncovered to date.
