This site was examined as part of Bord Gáis Éireann’s Pipeline to the West. A discontinuous spread of dark grey/black, silty clay was recorded during monitoring. This material overlay shallow bog. Subsequent excavation showed that the spread was very thin (less than 0.02m thick) and was a residual humic deposit that had not been stripped during the preliminary groundworks. No archaeological deposits or artefacts were encountered.
