Topsoil-stripping on the Bord Gáis Éireann Pipeline to the West uncovered a small, irregularly shaped pit in Carrow townland, Co. Limerick. It was roughly subcircular, measuring 1.5m north–south by 1m, with a shallow cut into the orange/yellow boulder clay. The fill contained burnt stones and moderate amounts of charcoal, typical of a fulacht fiadh. It may be an isolated roasting pit but more probably was associated with a now ploughed-out fulacht fiadh.
