The site was exposed during topsoil-stripping along the Bord Gáis Éireann Barnakyle to Coonagh West gas pipeline (No. 1128, Excavations 2002, 02E1649). It was identified as a line of circular patches of charcoal-rich material on the surface of the subsoil, c. 20m north of Site BGE 4/1/1 (No. 1121, Excavations 2002, 02E1697). Manual excavation of the deposits revealed the material to be evidence of agricultural burning and of no archaeological interest.
