SMR 13:28 is an enclosure marked on first- and second-edition OS maps. It is subcircular and consists of an earthen bank c. 1m high and overgrown with trees. No entrance is visible. A desk-based assessment carried out to ascertain the impact, if any, on the archaeological landscape of a proposed gas pipeline between Barnakyle and Coonagh West, Co. Limerick, confirmed that the construction wayleave would have no direct impact on the surface remains of the monument, which is c. 20m west of the wayleave. It was considered, however, that subsurface archaeological remains associated with the Recorded Monument might lie within the wayleave.
Eight trenches were excavated. Testing failed to reveal either subsurface features or portable finds.
