The proposed large-scale multi-purpose development is to be centred around Lough Rynn House and estate, located just outside of Mohill, Co. Leitrim. It will include 119 houses, 38 apartments, the refurbishment of Lough Rynn House, a championship golf course and associated parking and services. The area targeted by the testing consists of a large green field to the north and north-west of Lough Rynn House, bounded by forestry to the east, north and west. The field was completely flat and featureless. Fourteen trenches were excavated mechanically. They were all orientated north–south and were 1.5m wide. The trench lengths varied from 70 to 140m. The trenches revealed no evidence of any archaeological activity across the entire site.
