Testing was undertaken at a site on the east side of Spa Street, Portarlington, Co. Laois, before the construction of ten two-storey houses. Three trenches were excavated, and no significant archaeological material was encountered. The site has been considerably disturbed in recent times, and the current ground level has been raised to prevent flooding from the River Barrow.
