An assessment of a residential development of twelve houses was carried out. The proposed development site was in a greenfield area directly outside the medieval New Ross suburb of Rosbercon. On the first-edition OS map (1840) the location is marked as a greenfield area with a number of buildings fronting onto the road. A reused fragment of a medieval grave-slab of probable 13th–14th-century date was discovered in the adjacent parochial house in 1958. Testing by the author of a site 300m south-west of the proposed development area uncovered nothing of archaeological significance (Excavations 1999, No. 886).
Five trenches were excavated in the development area. Ploughsoil, c. 0.3m deep, overlay the substratum. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
