Testing of the route of the N25 Waterford Bypass south of Slieverue village revealed the remains of discarded land boundaries and tracks but very little that cannot be related to the present field pattern (in place before the 1839 Ordnance Survey). The land was probably rough grazing until the late 18th/early 19th century; no habitation or burial remains were found, despite the adjacent presence of likely prehistoric standing stones (see No. 1033, Excavations 2002, 02E0269).
