A grant of planning was issued to demolish part of an existing factory, erect two two-storey houses and convert a cart house to a two-storey house at Lower Bridge Street/Mill Lane, Callan, Co. Kilkenny. The site was within the zone of archaeological potential of the historical town of Callan. The grant of planning required that testing be carried out in the area of the cart house. Two trenches were opened by mechanical digger. Both were found to contain loose rubble fill of 19th-century date. No archaeological finds or features were noted.
