The development site in Clashacollare, north of Callan town, covered an area of 15.5ha. Phase 1 of the development involved the monitoring of ground disturbance associated with House Sites 1–49, associated access roads and the site of the nursing home. Field drains and field boundary ditches marked on the first- and second-edition OS maps were recorded during monitoring of topsoil-stripping in the area of the access road between House Sites 23–8. The drain was typically 0.55m wide, and the boundary ditch was 1.85m wide. The topsoil was stripped from the area of House Sites 1–49. No archaeological stratigraphy or features were recorded in the area of house sites.
