Monitoring took place of a two-storey extension to the rear of 15 John’s Quay, Kilkenny, a protected structure. John’s Quay lies on the east side of the River Nore in what was the medieval suburb of St John’s. The strip foundations for the extension were excavated by hand. Underneath the overburden, red-brick demolition rubble overlay river mud. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
