Pre-development testing for the National Roads Authority took place on the route of the N25 Waterford Bypass. The site encompasses a group of fields on either side of a stream separating Ballynamona and Kilmurry townlands. Excavation revealed the remains of post-medieval field systems and drainage works. A burnt mound survived beside the stream, along with some possible evidence of adjacent human activity. These features and their hinterlands will be subject to more extensive investigation and excavation before construction.
