Testing took place at a proposed development site at Bride Street/Abbey View, Kildare, on 16 February 2002. The site is at the southern end of the town, and it is speculated that late medieval defences may have run through the development area. Five trenches were excavated. They uncovered a layer of topsoil, 0.5m deep, under which lay a stiff, sandy clay subsoil. No features or artefacts of archaeological interest were uncovered.
