Testing to the rear of Chadwicks Ltd at Jigginstown, Naas, Co. Kildare, was undertaken on 25 and 26 November 2002. The site is near a castle (SMR 19:32) and a tower and tower-house (SMR 19:34). Five trenches were excavated throughout the proposed development area. The stratigraphy was variable across the site, ranging from a thin topsoil over natural boulder clay to a waterlogged, silty clay to the west of the existing premises. No features of archaeological significance were uncovered, but a single medieval jug rimsherd decorated with applied lines and a green glaze was retrieved from Trench A.
