Testing was undertaken at a proposed development site at Moate Commons, Clane, Co. Kildare, on 23 December 2002. The site is south-west of the village of Clane, to the west of a motte and holy well site, and within the area of archaeological potential defined by the Urban Archaeological Survey for County Kildare. Two trenches were mechanically excavated. No features or finds of archaeological potential were revealed during the testing.
