Further monitoring was carried out at Castlefarm on 11 November 2002. This site was originally tested in 1995, with monitoring of groundworks undertaken in 1998 (Excavations 1995, No. 164, and Excavations 1998, No. 300, 95E0209). A substantial complex of archaeological activity was uncovered during these works. The roadside entrance that was opened at this time was temporary, and the current phase of monitoring was associated with the realignment of this entrance in accordance with that outlined in the original site development plan. The realigned entrance is to the west of the former one. Topsoil was stripped in the location of the realigned entrance using a toothless ditching bucket. No further archaeological features were identified during this work.
