Monitoring of pipe-trench excavations from Castledermot to Graney Cross and of topsoil-stripping at a reservoir site at Ballyraggan was undertaken over five weeks from 4 November 2002. The work was carried out with regard to the Castledermot Water-Improvement Scheme. The pipe-trenches were generally excavated along grass margins, although some were dug through road surfaces at the southern end of Castledermot. No features of archaeological interest were uncovered. However, three sherds of medieval pottery were found in an area immediately north of the River Lerr.
