Testing was carried out on 22 August 2002 on the site of a proposed sewage treatment plant to be constructed as part of the Castledermot Sewerage Scheme. During monitoring of topsoil-stripping for an access roadway and treatment plant, some anomalies were noted below the topsoil in the area of the proposed treatment plant. The nature of these anomalies suggested that further testing should be undertaken to investigate whether they were of any archaeological significance. There are no known archaeological sites in the immediate area. Three test-trenches were inserted, and it was concluded that the features observed during topsoil removal were of no archaeological significance.
