Testing was undertaken in this area before the start of work on the Castledermot Water-Supply Scheme. A site is indicated on the first-edition OS 6-inch map as a possible ringfort but is not marked on any subsequent OS maps. There are now no visible surface indications of the monument.

A single test-trench was excavated by a machine fitted with a toothless bucket along the grass margin that separates the road from the field in which the site lies. The edges of the trenches were cleaned by hand and further investigated. The trench was c. 1m wide and was excavated to an average depth of 0.2m into the natural subsoil. The topsoil was up to 0.23m deep and lay directly on the subsoil. No features of archaeological interest were uncovered.
