Monitoring was undertaken associated with the development of a residential block on a site to the rear of two commercial properties on the intersection of Pembroke Street and Matt Talbot Road in Tralee. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential of Tralee (SMR 29:119) and is currently derelict, with no standing buildings. Four trenches were excavated. Under a layer of trunking recently laid over the whole site was a layer of topsoil, 0.19m deep, that overlay a mid-brown layer of clayey silt and building debris. Wet, clayey subsoil was reached at a depth of 0.7m. No stratigraphy or artefacts of archaeological significance were identified.
