Monitoring of groundworks before the construction of eight two-storey terraced dwelling-houses took place at Cloonalour, off the Oak Park Road in Tralee. The development is within the zones of archaeological potential of SMR 29:120 (a ringfort) and SMR 29:119 (Tralee town).

The topsoil averaged 0.35m deep and consisted of a fairly compact, mid- to dark brown, sandy clay with occasional inclusions of fragments of modern glass and crockery. This overlay a sterile, light brown/orange, sandy silt. There was extensive evidence of north–south-aligned ridges and furrow systems, possibly associated with a cottage immediately to the south. There was also modern disturbance to the south of the development owing to the construction of sheds in the recent past.

Nothing of archaeological importance was uncovered during the monitoring.
