Pre-development testing was carried out at Tralee Credit Union, 45–47 Ashe Street, Tralee, Co. Kerry, in October 2002. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential of Tralee (SMR 29:119). A trench, measuring 2.3m north–south by 2.5m and 1.8m deep, was excavated to accommodate a lift shaft. Under the concrete floor was a dark, water-lain, clayey fill with frequent limestone inclusions. Fragments of early modern and modern pottery, a few clay-pipe stems and a couple of scraps of leather were recovered. No archaeological stratigraphy or features were recorded.
