Test-trenching took place at this site on the south bank of the Flesk River as part of an application to construct five apartment buildings. The site is currently laid out as a pitch-and-putt course, and there has been no previous development on it.
Testing consisted of the excavation of trenches across the long axis of each of the buildings and two trenches on the driveway in front of the buildings. Excavation was to a maximum depth of 1.5m. Stratigraphy was uniform throughout the site, with natural material lying directly beneath the topsoil at 0.15–0.3m. The natural subsoil at the site was a red/brown, gravelly, sandy matrix containing water-rolled pebbles and stones. No archaeological material was uncovered during the testing.
