Planning permission has been granted for the development of a single-storey retail unit with associated storage buildings and carpark and a separate development of fourteen houses on a site in the town of Castleisland, Co. Kerry. The development site was a roughly triangular green field between the Tralee Road and the Pound Road at the western end of the town, near a ruined church. Monitoring of topsoil removal and subsurface excavation revealed a large number of field drains. No archaeological features were noted during the monitoring.
