Monitoring took place of a sand-and-gravel pit in the townland of Ballahacommane, Killarney, Co. Kerry, in an area of archaeological potential. The subject of this development was a site of c. 40ha. Investigations during Phase 6 of the development did not reveal any archaeological remains.
Ruth Elliott carried out monitoring of topsoil clearance during Phase 5 in May 2002 (No. 765, Excavations 2002). This consisted of the clearance of 0.7ha of the topsoil overburden in Area 2. A total area of 6.2ha of topsoil and blanket-bog overburden has been cleared from the site in Areas 1 and 2 to date.
