This feature, a small figure-of-eight-shaped kiln exposed during monitoring of Section 2 of the Pipeline to the West, was excavated from 25 to 27 June 2002. It lay to the immediate south-east of a forest development in poor-quality pastureland south-west of Kilconnell village, Co. Galway. Oriented east–west, the kiln was 1.9m long and was dug to a maximum depth of 0.28m. Across its fire-bowl and drying chamber it was 0.45m and 0.32m wide respectively. The kiln was very regularly cut, with an easily defined edge, breaking sharply at the -bowl area and more vertical sides in the drying chamber. The base was relatively even, inclining gradually from the fire-spot east toward the drying chamber to facilitate an active draught.

Three fills were identified; two base fills were particular to the fire-bowl, and the third, upper fill was found throughout. The only inclusions of interest retrieved from the upper fill were occasional small fragments of burnt bone.
