Monitoring of topsoil clearance at the site of Doughiska, Oranmore, Co. Galway, took place over two weeks in March 2002. The development works related to the construction of the new Galway Clinic and associated services. The site encompassed an area of 6ha. A track machine with a 1m flat grading bucket undertook topsoil clearance. The topsoil was removed to an average depth of 0.4m, exposing the karst limestone bedrock, which directly underlay the topsoil. Occasionally, particularly on the lower slopes in the vicinity of the boundary walls, subsoil overlay the bedrock. This subsoil was a red/orange silty clay and had an average depth of 0.1m.

No stratigraphy or artefacts of an archaeological nature were identified.
