Monitoring took place of construction trial-trenches at seven locations along the Bord Gáis Éireann Pipeline to the West project (Phase 2: Athlone, Co. Westmeath, to Gort, Co. Galway). The work was carried out from 11 to 13 February 2002. No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed in any of the trenches.
