Excavation was undertaken in Skidoo, north County Dublin, before development works. The site was identified during monitoring of groundworks (No. 668, Excavations 2002, 02E0408). Two features were excavated: part of a medieval (as dated by 13th- and 14th-century pottery) gully and an associated silty deposit containing some bone.
A 4.85m-long stretch of a gully aligned north–south was uncovered. This narrow feature (0.35m wide and 0.1m deep) contained a single fill of charred humic material. This feature continues northward into areas that will not be developed. Directly to the south-east was a shallow, silty deposit (3.4m by 1.2m by 0.07m in maximum depth). It contained some animal bone and has been provisionally recorded as medieval, although no datable evidence has been recovered, nor can any relationship with the first feature be confirmed.
