Testing was undertaken at Neilstown Road, Dublin. The site is in the vicinity of Neilstown (Rowlagh) Castle. The proposed development would involve the construction of apartments and townhouses, but full details of the planned development have not yet been finalised.
Testing began on 28 November 2002 and continued for three days, using a mechanical digger with a flat, toothless bucket. Nine trenches were excavated. The results indicated that there had been much disturbance and dumping of soils on the site. Wall foundations identified in Trench 2 were not of archaeological significance, and no other archaeological material was found.
