Testing was undertaken in Roganstown in north County Dublin. The development includes the construction of a golf-course and a hotel. A cultural heritage report (dated 12 December 2000) identified two anomalies on an aerial photograph, one to the east and one to the west of Roganstown House. After discussions with the developer, the site to the east of Roganstown House was not investigated as it is situated in an ornamental garden. It appears that any development work in this area will be minimal.
An attempt was made to excavate a test-trench to the west of Roganstown House. The ground was highly unstable, consisting of 3.2m of construction rubble. It was considered for safety reasons that this was too deep to continue excavation.
