Testing was undertaken to investigate a circular anomaly identified from aerial photographic analysis. The site was east of the medieval town of Lusk, SMR 8:10, lying outside the area of archaeological potential as noted in the Urban Archaeological Survey. The anomaly lay in the path of the proposed Lusk Relief Road.
Two intersecting and perpendicular trenches were excavated across the site of the possible feature, each 30m long, 2m wide and c. 0.4m deep.
No evidence of a feature that could represent the anomaly visible on the aerial photograph was found, and no additional features of archaeological significance were noted.
