It was proposed to erect three two-storey houses at this site with foundations not exceeding 1m deep. Two trenches were opened by machine along the foundation line. Chapel Avenue forms part of what became known as The Green at the beginning of the 20th century, where an old chapel once stood. By 1850, after two centuries, the chapel was ready to collapse, and the present Star of the Sea church was built in 1851–3 to replace it. No evidence of archaeological deposits was found in the trenches opened. The trench profile comprised contaminated garden soil overlying pure natural sand. No finds were retrieved during testing.
