Excavation was carried out on a site at Flemingtown, Co. Dublin, from 20 to 23 March 2002, as part of the Bord Gáis Éireann Pipeline to the West project (Section 6: Gormanston to Ballough). The site was revealed during monitoring of topsoil-stripping and was recorded as a curvilinear ditch feature with a charcoal-rich fill in places.

The earliest feature on the site was the segmented curvilinear ditch, divided into two sections roughly midway along its length. It was on average 1m wide and 0.2m deep and represented roughly one-third of a circle measuring 10.5m in diameter. There was a circular stone setting overlying a shallow pit cut in the primary fill of the ditch at its northern terminus. A scoop was cut into the upper fill of the ditch midway along its length and filled with a charcoal-rich deposit. Finds from this deposit included burnt and unburnt bone (including animal teeth and mandibles), carbonised grain and hazelnut fragments. A sherd of Bronze Age coarseware pottery was also recovered from the southern segment of the ditch.

The excavation of a later linear field drain running between the gap in the two segments produced one sherd of North Leinster cooking ware.
