The site lies at the western end of Trinity College in an area that was developed only in the late 18th/early 19th century. The primary deposit was grey silty clay containing fragments of red brick and mortar. The assessment also revealed the remains of several 19th-century walls and a cobbled surface, all of which were badly truncated. A subsequent monitoring programme confirmed that this area was marshy ground until the late 18th/early 19th century. As the new services were confined to the route of previous services, little else was found, apart from a 19th-century French drain, which was resealed and left in situ.
