No. 50 Montpelier hill (a protected structure) is a two bay, three-storey, terraced building that can be dated to the late 18th century but may incorporate elements of an early 18th-century warehouse known to have occupied the site in the mid-18th century. It is currently being redeveloped, and, as a result, the insertion of drainage trenches at the rear of the house was monitored. The two trenches were c. 0.5m deep. The excavation of the trenches revealed the remains of a brick surface or floor outside the house, at the south-east corner. This lay just beneath the existing concrete of the yard and presumably relates to a return, 3m square, depicted on the OS map, dated to 1847.
