A small area adjacent to the existing bank was monitored before the erection of an office extension. There was no evidence of any archaeological features or deposits. The site area lies at least 1.4m above the present adjacent Watling Street level.
The deposits excavated during substructural works comprised loose post-medieval infill material introduced previously to bring the area up to the James’s Street level, from which entrance to the existing bank building is gained.
