Five trenches were excavated on the site of a proposed new clubhouse for the Leinster branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union. It was discovered that the area has been substantially raised from the original ground level to its present level. There was evidence of some activity in the area during the 19th century, but no evidence of earlier activity was uncovered. The remaining deposits were of a more recent date. The evidence seems to indicate that this area was reclaimed from the flood-plain of the Dodder in recent times and may never have been used in the course of Donnybrook Fair. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
