Testing was carried out at the site on 31 July 2002. Seven trenches were excavated along the lines of the foundation trenches. The site falls within the zone of archaeological potential of the medieval village of Dalkey. It is in an area that lay immediately outside the northern defences of medieval Dalkey. All deposits contained material of 19th- and 20th-century date and can be interpreted as garden soils that may be associated with building to the south of the site in the 19th century. Excavation of the trenches failed to produce any material of archaeological significance.
