An assessment was carried out at the site of a proposed development at Hamlet Lane, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, in March 2002. The development site comprises 52.6ha in the townland of Bremore, to the north-west of Balbriggan. It was agreed that the north-eastern section of the development be subject to a full assessment, including test excavation.
This section of the development is on the southern side of Hamlet Lane, to the west of the old Dublin–Belfast Road. To the east of the old Dublin–Belfast Road is the complex of monuments associated with the medieval manor at Bremore (SMR 2:2(01–03)). Twelve trenches c. 2m wide and up to 180m long were opened across the field. A small area of burning measuring 0.43m by 0.32m was identified in Trench B4. Other than this, there were no indications of the survival of archaeological material at the site.
