It was proposed to construct a three-storey apartment complex with associated car-parking on the site of a former garage premises adjacent to Balbriggan railway station. Monitoring was carried out. The contractor undertook excavation of five geotechnical test-pits in the development zone in order to establish the nature of the ground below the existing concrete surface and to establish the depth of foundations of the adjoining property wall along the eastern side of the site. The wall can be provisionally dated to the late post-medieval period and was probably built at the time that the property was initially developed. The site is within an industrial area, and therefore it is not surprising that the area has been substantially disturbed. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted during these works.
