It was proposed to develop a greenfield area as an extension to the existing Balloo Industrial Estate. There were no known sites of archaeological importance in the area to be developed. The nearest sites, SMR 2:21 and 2:22, an earthwork and a rath, lie c. 500m to the west and will not be affected by the proposed works. Topsoil-stripping was monitored. Although a number of modern drains, field boundaries and patches of modern agricultural disturbance were found, nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
